Konstantin Vulkov: If someone offered you a free first class ticket to any beach in the world, which one would you choose and why?
Guia Cleps: It would probably be somewhere I have never been before, like Australia or Polynesia so I could explore something new. I always love an adventure...
Konstantin: Sandy or rocky beach?
Guia: Sandy if I'm feeling like a beach bum and just want to relax, and rocky if I'm feeling wilder and maybe have to guts to jump off a cliff or two...
Konstantin: What is the ultimate goal of a swimsuit? To be sexy or something else?
Guia: I think the ultimate goal is to feel comfortable, beautiful and sexy. I want to wear a bikini I can play in, as well as seduce...
Konstantin: What is the inspiration behind your brand?
Guia: Everything that surrounds me. My friends, the places I visit, photographs I come across. Inspiration is everywhere.
Konstantin: Is it a little bit risky to launch a swimwear brand for women? The market seems to be overscrowded?
Guia: I actually never thought it was an over saturated market, until I entered it haha. Australia is light years ahead when it comes to swimwear, but the rest of the world still has a lot of catching up to do. So that still leaves a little bit of room for us :)
Konstantin: Tell me about your motto “No bikini is ever too small”.
Guia: I spend a lot of time in Brazil, and quickly adopted their beach style. The bikinis are way tinier and women are incredibly proud of their tooshies and are not afraid of showing them off. I was so fascinated by this that I wanted to bring this mindset to Europe... I thought a funny tag line would help :)
Konstantin: How did you started? Do you remember your first sale for example?
Guia: I remember my first sale like it was yesterday! I just arrived in Tel Aviv straight from a factory visit in Brazil, and decided to have a beach day with my girlfriends. I brought some samples with me to the beach so we could take some cool photos, and next thing I know, there are 20 random girls standing around us wanting to buy everything. It was awesome.
Konstantin: What was the first foreign market that proved successful?
Guia: Italy. It has been such a strong market for us, with such keen supporters.
Konstantin: Give us an advise - we are producing high quality linen beach towels. How we can sell one to a Brazilian?
Guia: I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you...
Konstantin: How important is the social media? Guia: It's of vital importance. It allows small brands to have massive worldwide exposure. We would not be here today had it not been for instagram.
Konstantin: Your next step? Men’s swimwear?
Konstantin: Choose a summer song for us.
Guia: My summer staple is Jungle Fever by The Chakachas
